Murano glass processing
Gold leaf
Over the centuries,
Murano glass
masters have developed a technique called
gold leaf
which has enabled them to achieve special workmanship and create unique objects embellished with gold.
Gold leaf on glass
Murano glass working technique
When they want to enrich the glass with gold leaf, glassmakers place a 22 or 24 carat gold foil on the hot crucible mixture, before blowing.
In this way, during the blowing process, the gold is dispersed in the compound with a golden flake effect. With this system, therefore, a shiny powder is created inside the glass itself which embellishes the object being created.
The exaltation of beauty since the Renaissance
The gold leaf technique is one of the oldest, used as early as the Renaissance by Venetian artists. Objects made with this technique take on a very refined and elegant style that has always aroused interest and fascination.
